2020–21 Indiana State Sycamores men's basketball team

The 2020–21 Indiana State Sycamores men's basketball team represents Indiana State University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Sycamores, led by 11th-year head coach Greg Lansing, will play their home games at the newly-renovated Hulman Center in Terre Haute, Indiana as members of the Missouri Valley Conference.

Previous season

The Sycamores finished the 2019–20 season 18–12, 11–7 in MVC play to finish in a tie for third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the MVC Tournament to Missouri State.[1]

ISU coach Greg Lansing began the season with 166 wins, which places him second on the ISU Coaching Leaderboard, the leader Duane Klueh has 182. Senior Guard Tyreke Key moved into the Top 10 of the ISU 1,000-pt Club; on February 1, 2021, vs. Bradley, Key dropped 19 points to surpass 1,508 career points and move into the tenth spot. As of February 9th, Key made moved into the 9th spot with a career total of 1,557; he also ranks 8th on the Sycamore career 3-point Field Goal list (146 3-point field goals.)

As of February 7, Key had 4 games in which he scored 20 or more points, including 2 31-point games and led the Sycamores with a 15.9 ppg.

As of February 6, the Sycamores had completed a 7-game winning streak to push Coach Lansing's career record to 177 wins, 99 MVC wins (the 11th highest total in MVC history. The last 4 wins of the streak stretched ISU's "63 Is The Magic Number" record to 110-11 (.908) During the Lansing Head Coaching tenure, Indiana State's record is 110-11, when the Sycamores hold their foes to 63 points or fewer; the Sycamores are also 25-0 when the opponents score 53 points or less.
