A scaled up version of the Bofors 40 mm gun, the gun was composed of twin Bofors 57mm guns installed on a custom naval mounting that maintained the system in mechanical equilibrium, even when firing. The gun were water-cooled and fed by large 80-cartridge magazines that allowed several long bursts to be fired without reloading.
