The game follows the McDoodle family (Ted, Dolores, Mary Jane, and Timmy) as they try to survive the effects of a nuclear apocalypse for as long as possible. There are other characters introduced while the family is surviving such as the twin siblings from the town of Hill Valley. A dog named Pancake can be discovered and brought into the shelter during the game. Similarly, the mad scientist and the government agents can be found through a cat known as Sharikov, and the cat can also clone itself at some point in the story and there will be more cats in the shelter. A mutant can be found when he knocks on their shelter door. Raiders may also appear at the shelter door, forcing them to defend themselves.
