Sports
Abbeville High School participates in 12 varsity sports throughout the year. Football, baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, and softball participate in junior varsity programs.[1] The Abbeville Panthers have won 14 state championships, most recently basketball in 2016.

Football
Abbeville is best known for its football program, which has won 10 state titles: 1971, 1981, 1991, 1996, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. The Panther football team is currently coached by Jamie Nickles, who took over the program in 2004 after the death of longtime coach Dennis Botts. Nickles currently has a career record of 119-38 and has led the team to state titles in 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020.
Other sports
In 2016, Abbeville won the Class AA State Championship in Basketball. Led by Coach Doug Belcher, the Panthers finished the season 20-4, going a perfect 10-0 in region games. It is Abbeville's first state title in basketball.
The school's softball, wrestling, and track and field teams have also won state titles.
