Abeiku Santana

Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, (born February 1977),[1] is a Ghanaian broadcast journalist, currently with Okay Fm as the station’s Drive Time host.[2] In 2016, he was announced as a Tourism Ambassador for Ghana.[3][4]


In 2017, he was listed in top 100 Tourism personalities in West Africa by Balafon Awards West Africa Committee of Experts.[5]

Biography

Santana was born on 16 February 1977 in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He started his basic education in Koforidua at Nana Kwaku Boateng Experimental School. He attended Secondary School at the Ordinary Level at Ghana National College, Cape Coast.[6]

At the Advanced level, he completed Ghana Secondary School in Koforidua. After his national service with National Archives, Public Records Department in 1996, he joined radio in 1997.his overall boss is Simon Baaman of Nakpanduri

Entertainment

Santana worked with Radio Z now Eastern Fm in Koforidua from 1997 to 1999. He then moved to Radio Mercury, Kumasi, from 1999-2001.[7]

In 2002, Santana joined Multimedia Group Company Limited, owners of Adom FM, where he was the host of Ofiekwanso, a drive-time program from 2pm to 6pm weekdays. He is currently with Okay Fm as the station’s Drive Time host[8][9][10]

Awards and recognitions

Abeiku Santana was honored at the Pan-African Executives Awards Summit 2018.[11] In July 2020 , he won Special Recognition Award for Tourism Marketing and Promotion at the annual Exclusive Men of the Year 2020.[12][13][14][15] He also won the Radio and Television Personality of the Year 2020[16][17][18]

He received special recognition award by City People Entertainment Awards[19]

Controversy

In 2019, Santana's daughter Nana Aba Aggrey, died at age 4 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on June 7 whiles undergoing surgery. Rumors' around media houses and blogpost said that he has used his daughter for rituals which he later came out to deny the allegations[20][21][22][23]
