He graduated from the University of New Hampshire, class of 1921, where he was a member of ROTC, serving in WWI. He married Lilian Bernson, and moved to Beverly, Massachusetts.[1] where they raised their family, and were founding members of Congregation B'Nai Abraham. Both Mr. and Mrs. Cohn were known for their service to the community, and lived in Beverly for the rest of their lives.

Cohn served as a member of the Beverly board of aldermen, citizen's urban renewal commission, and recreation commission. In 1964, he was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives as a Republican. Outside of politics, Cohn, along with his son Arlen was the proprietor of Alcon's Clothing Store in Beverly.[1][2]

On May 23, 1966, Cohn collapsed at a meeting of the Beverly Mental Health Association and was rushed to Beverly Hospital, where he died later that night.[2]
