Foundation and Locations

In 2004, Sprott Shaw Community College (SSC) decided to expand its educational offerings. The goal was to offer SSC graduates and others an easier way to obtain a BBA. After receiving the rights by the Minister of Advanced Education to offer the new degree, SSC had to differentiate the two schools. Sprott Shaw Degree College (SSD) was created with the intention of distinguishing itself from its vocational offerings. The first president was Dean Duperron. In 2007 the first Chancellor, the Honourable Brian Peckford was appointed. Acsenda School of Management has had four campuses in its history. The first campus was located in Burnaby, then moved to West Georgia and Granville Street, then 1090 West Pender Street. Today, the Acsenda campus is located at 666 Burrard Street.

Programs

Acsenda School of Management offers two degree programs: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and the Bachelors of Hospitality Management (BHM)

Bachelor of Business Administration The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) has been offered by Acsenda since 2004 and is a 4-year undergraduate degree program. Students may select from one of four areas to concentrate their studies: Human Resources Management, Marketing, Accounting or International Business Management. A General Business Management option is also available. Students who accel in the program may also apply for a practicum during their final term of study.

International Business Management (IBM): Students who choose the IBM concentration are prepared for careers in international trade, financial institutes and governmental organizations. The IBM program is also aligned with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) and Certified International Trade Professional (CITP).

Accounting: This concentration is designed for students who pursue professional qualifications in accounting. Acsenda has an agreement with Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA), where the students can complete the foundational CPA courses through their regular course work.

Human Resource Management (HRM): HRM offers students a set of potential career options, including positions in recruiting and placement, interviewing, and employment management. Acsenda School of Management has designed this concentration to fill the requirements of Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) in different areas such as training, development, and recruitment.

Marketing Management (MKTG): Marketing Management is a concentration that integrates a visceral marketing and business environment into learning procedures. Guest lecturers and industrial visits are organized by the school to enhance the knowledge of students in these areas.

General Business: The General Business concentration provides an avenue for those who want to pursue a wide-ranging perspective of the business world.

The Bachelor of Hospitality Management (BHM) has been offered by Acsenda since 2016 and is a 4-year undergraduate degree program. The Acsenda School of Management BHM degree prepares students for a management career in the global hospitality management sector.
