Actinaurispora is a genus in the phylum Actinobacteria (Bacteria).[1]

Etymology

The name Actinaurispora derives from: Greek noun actis actinos, ray; Latin noun aurum, gold, the colour of gold; New Latin feminine gender noun spora, (from Greek noun spora, seed) a spore; New Latin feminine gender noun Actinaurispora, ray (fungus) producing orange spores.[2]

Species

The genus contains a single species,[2] namely A. siamensis ( Thawai et al. 2010, (Type species of the genus).; New Latin feminine gender adjective siamensis, of Siam, the old name for Thailand, the country of origin of the soil from which the type strain was isolated, given the fact that Latin or mediaeval Latin terms for countries should be used, c.f. Bacterial taxonomy)[3]
