Afzal Ali (poet)

Afzal Ali (Bengali: আফজল আলী) was a medieval Muslim poet. He was the resident of Milua village at Satkania Upazila in Chittagong District in about the sixteenth century.[1][2]

Bhangu Fakir was his father. So far, a book titled 'Nasihatnama (নসীহতনামা)' written by the poet and a few verses written in Vaishnava style have been found.[1] The period of writing of the book 'Nasihatnama' is approximately 1662[3] His book is a notable creation in the literature of Muslim Bengal in the sixteenth century. This is because there is not much of a Bengali text containing the teachings of Islam written at that time. This book contains references to sermons in simple language. He also had a good reputation as a writer.[1] It is to be noted that the author of another book called "Nasihatnama" is Sheikh Paran (1550-1615).[3]
