Plot

Kannan (Ravikanth) is a blind man living in a remote village, he was adopted and brought up by the village temple priest (K. K. Sounder) and he is still living with him. The village belle Devi (Yuvasri) teases Kannan many times; she mimics the voices of an old grandmother and a granddaughter, and the innocent Kannan falls into the trap. Devi is attracted towards his innocent behaviour and his beautiful singing voice. When Devi proposed her love for Kannan, he first could not accept due to his disability, but he eventually reciprocated her love.

The village chief Rajadurai (Vijay Babu) is highly respected by the villagers and he is seen as a kind-hearted person by them, but in reality, he is an evildoer who has raped many innocent village girls, just before their marriage. Devi's father Murugan (Giridhar) is the faithful servant of Rajadurai and the only person who knows about his crimes. When Rajadurai comes to know about Devi's love, he sends henchmen to beat up Kannan and his adoptive father. Rajadurai then convinces Murugan to arrange his daughter's marriage with another man. In the meantime, Raja (Bhuvanesh), a jobless and angry young man, is hired by Rajadurai. He lives with his mother Parvathy (K. R. Savithri) and he has never known his father. Rajadurai then proposes Raja to get married to Devi.

Murugan's second wife Paappamma tells to Murugan and his daughter Devi about his first wife's death. She was one day forcibly raped by Rajadurai, but when Murugan came at Rajadurai's bedroom, he thought that she had an affair with him so he brutally killed his innocent wife. Mad with rage, after hearing this, Murugan attempts to kill his boss but his henchmen stop him and Rajadurai kills Murugan.

The day of the marriage, Raja finds that Rajadurai is his father while Rajadurai wants to rape the innocent girl Devi before the marriage. Rajadurai then changes his plan: he decides to kill Kannan and to marry Devi. Raja arrives there on time and kills his father. The film ends with Kannan and Devi getting married with the blessings of the villagers.
