Aiona Santana

Aiona Santana (born December 31, 1999) is a Canadian model, singer, songwriter, beauty pageant titleholder, record producer, dancer, actress, and philanthropist.

Early life and education

Santana grew up speaking both Spanish and Dutch, and learned English and French when she and her family moved to Ottawa, Canada.[1] Santana is a student at Carleton University where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Music with a major in Classical Voice and Minor in Arts Management and Business.[2]

Music

As a teenager, Santana performed at local events including the Canadian Tulip Festival 2017, Kiwanis Music Festival, and Ottawa Idol.[1] Starting as a songwriter, then singer, and then producer, she created her own music early on. In November 2019, Santana released her debut EP entitled Invicta Part 1.[3] In 2020, she released her second EP, Invicta Part 2, along with several music videos.[4] Santana was nominated for two categories at the Latin Awards Canada 2020: Best Pop Music Artist,and Best New Artist, Revelation of the Year. She won the latter category.[5]

Pageantry

In 2018, Santana placed fourth at the Miss Canada Latina pageant.[1] She competed in Miss Universe Canada 2019 as Miss National Capital Region. She was awarded with the title of Miss Eco Teen Canada 2019 and competed at the Miss Eco Teen International pageant in Egypt in November 2019.[6] In February 2020, she competed at the provincial level for Miss World Ontario and was awarded the title of Miss Ottawa 2020.[7] She then competed in the Miss World Canada pageant in November 2020, where she became the first ever winner of the "Head-to-Head Challenge" in which all delegates were interviewed by former Mr. World Canada, Frankie Cena.[7] She finished top 3 in the Talent competition, Top 6 among the Beauty with a Purpose project, and in the Top 8 overall.[7]

On January 1, 2021 Santana was crowned as the first Miss Glamour International Canada 2021 and will compete for the title of Miss Glamour International.[8]

Philanthropy

Santana is founder of The Vision Movement where she uses music and art to motivate and help individuals who are struggling.[9] The Vision Movement was nominated in 2021 for the Best Non-Profit Organization in the Ottawa Faces Magazine Awards, which will be held virtually. [10]

Other

In December 2020 Santana debuted her Canadian television segment Good Vibes with Aiona, featuring the latest news about music, entertainment, and pop culture.[11]
