Ajani Fortune

Ajani "Jay" Fortune (born 30 December 2002) is a Trinidad and Tobago football player who plays for Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship via the Atlanta United FC academy that he joined in August 2018.[1]

Club career

On 11 July 2020, Fortune made his debut for Atlanta United 2, the USL Championship affiliate of Atlanta United, as a 69th-minute substitute during a 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay Rowdies.[2] Fortune earned his first professional start against Memphis 901 FC on July 18, 2020. On September 12, 2020, Fortune scored his first professional goal against Miami FC in the 23rd minute of the match.[3]

International career

At age 16, Fortune made his first international cap with Trinidad and Tobago U-17 National Team as he featured in the 2019 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship hosted in Bradenton, Florida. Fortune and Trinidad and Tobago came second in the group stage as they picked up two wins against Bermuda and Jamaica, and lost in the final group stage match against Mexico. They then faced Honduras in the Round of 16 where their tournament ended with a defeat.[4]

He received his first senior call-up on January 26, 2021 ahead of a friendly with the United States.[5]

Fortune's brother, Dre, plays for North Carolina FC of the USL Championship.
