Alessandro D'Agostini

Alessandro D'Agostini (14 March 1922 Rome, Italy - 27 February 2006) was an Italian international football referee.[1]

Career

He officiated 3 international friendly matches in 1968–1970.[2]

In club football he officiated some UEFA competition matches such as UEFA Cup (10) and Cup Winners Cup (3).[3] He refereed 114 Serie A matches in 1961–70. He refereed 1965 Coppa Italia Final played between Juventus-Internazionale (1:0) in Rome.

Controversial episodes

In 1967 in a Milan derby, he showed the center after ghost goal of Gianni Rivera with recommendation of the linesman Mario Graziosi which it absolutely was not goal, unlike it has hit the crossbar. But RAI journalist Carlo Sassi used for the first time the slow motion in "La Domenica Sportiva" to prove that it was not goal.[4]

Personal life

After active refereeing career he was CAN deputy commissioner in 1972–81, commissioner-designator at CAN A and B in 1981-85 and vice president of the AIA 19–87.[5][6]

Awards

He was awarded Giovanni Mauro Award in 1967 that is Referee of Year in Italy.
