Ali bin Yousif Fakhro

Ali bin Yousif bin Abdulrahman Al-Hassan Fakhro (Arabic: علي بن يَوسف بن عَبدالرحمن آل حسن فخرو) (1924-2008) was a pioneering Bahraini businessman who served as chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry for three consecutive terms.[1]

After initially helping expand the family business in Dubai in his youth, Fakhro returned to Bahrain and co-founded and served as chairman of many public companies, among them Bahrain Flour Mills, the Bahrain Cinema Company, and the Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Company. He also helped build up Mohammed Fakhroo and Bros., a trading company representing foreign brands such as Philips, Whirlpool Corporation, Hitachi and Lofra.

Later Years

After being elected chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he helped develop the commerce industry in Bahrain between 1989 and 2001.[1] During this time he undertook missions promoting Bahrain to countries including the US, UK, Australia, China, Russia, Africa and Iran.[2]

Fakhro died on 24 January 2008,[3] after being admitted to the hospital for heart-related problems.[2]
