Anara, Nigeria

Anara is a town located about 25 kilometres northeast of Owerri, in Imo State, Nigeria. Anara has a proud history. Anara is a member of the Osuh (Osuh Ama) clan. Osuh and Abba are brothers. The ancestors of both are agreed to have come originally from Abam (an Igbo group affiliated to the Aros).

Anara is bordered by Amaraku, Eziama, Abba, Ezihe, Agbaje, Dim nume Isu, Oboh and some many other communities.

Anara originally has eight villages. Aguna is the eldest.

The population of Anara is approximately 70,000

It is a developing town. It has a lot of immigrants and non natives alike. The popular Anara day holds on 26 of every December.

One fascinating thing about Anara and Osuh clan is that they did not originally have the new yam celebration that is associated with most Igbo towns. Instead we have the Awa festival and the likes of that.

Anara people are hardworking people. We have some many successful men and women. We have an array of beautiful women. Our marital proceeding are quite cheap and affordable. Anara people and indeed the Osuh people are kind and generous people. We are humble, dedicated and unassuming.

Anara host a daily market at Obom, Anara (Anara Station). It is a busy market with a lot of merchandise. There are banks. Gas stations, Five star hotels and guest houses (Mbano Hotels is a five star hotel), world class eateries, construction businesses (Coduc Nigeria Ltd), Water companies, oil mills, bakeries and lot more.
