Aria Finger

Aria Finger is the former CEO of DoSomething.org and the President of the TMI agency.[1]

Background

Aria attended Washington University in St. Louis where she graduated magna cum laude in economics and political science in 2005.

Aria joined DoSomething.org in 2005 as an associate, working on varied aspects of the organization including running campaigns and business development, obtaining strategic partnerships, and writing web content. She was named COO of DoSomething in 2010[2] and president of DoSomething subsidiary company TMI in 2013.[3] Aria was appointed as CEO of DoSomething.org at the end of October 2015.[4]

Aria also serves as an adjunct professor of nonprofit business management at New York University.[5]

As of September 12, 2020, Aria faces a ongoing staff walkout at DoSomething.org calling for her resignation as CEO following accusations by multiple former staffers that she was complicit in and failed to address the toxic work culture and racial discrimination at the organization which had emerged under her predecessor, Nancy Lublin, who was fired from sister organization Crisis Text Line in June.[6][7] She initially took a leave of absence in June but was reinstated in August following an independent investigation's conclusion that there was no explicit racial bias at the organization, although staff participating in the ongoing work stoppage have criticized the investigation as flawed because it focused mainly on explicit racial bias even though the accusations were primarily of implicit racial bias and because the report was never released.[8] Amid accusations of racial abuse, the staff was able to screenshot Aria's computer screen which she displayed at all All Staff meeting, disparaging a BIPOC member of her executive team.[9]

Campaigns

Some of the biggest campaigns that Aria has worked on include: Teens for Jeans,[5] Give a Spit About Cancer,[2] and Thumb Wars[2]
