An American-German co-production, the film is produced by Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Wesley Coller, Schweighöfer and Dan Maag, and will be released by Netflix. Filming began in Germany in October 2020 and concluded in December 2020.[1]

The story takes place before the events of Army of the Dead.

This prequel is in development at Netflix.[2] The film finished filming in December 2020.[3]
