Asim Munir (general)
Lieutenant General Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah HI(M) is a three-star rank general in the Pakistan Army He is currently Commandanding XXX Corps (Pakistan) Corps Gujranwala since 17 June 2019.[1] He served as the 23rd Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence, the premier intelligence agency of the country until June 16, 2019 when he was removed from the post after only 8 months into a three-year job.[2] He is from 17th OTS course and was commissioned in 23rd Battalion of Frontier Force Regiment. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general in September 2018 and was subsequently appointed as DG ISI. He previously served as Director General of Military Intelligence. He was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz in March 2018. He had earlier served as commander of Force Command Northern Areas.[3][4] He is also a Hafiz-e-Quran.[5]
