Asraf Peerkhan

Asraf Peerkhan (died 3 February 2021) was the Surinamese Chairman of the Nickerie Voetbal Bond. He was the chairman since the 1990s.[1] The Asraf Peerkhan Stadion was named after him in 2017.[2]

Biography

Originally Peerkhan was a teacher at the Ramjaneeschool in Nickerie and became transporter at the Technical Department of the Ministry of Education and Community Development in Nickerie. After retirement he was a sportsman in his spare time. Peerkhan became referee, league leader, board member and chairman of the Nickerie Football Association for about 29 years. In 2017 the Nickerie Voetbal Stadion was named after him; now called the Asraf Peerkhan Stadion.

Peerkhan died on 3 February 2021, aged 74.[1]
