Astra Model 44

The Astra Model 44 is a large, double-action revolver chambered in .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum, or .45 Colt with a six-shot, swing-out cylinder. It was called the 'Terminator' model. The revolver was available in blued finish or in stainless steel. The Terminator 44 magnum pistol was similar in size to Smith & Wesson's N-frame series revolvers. The "Terminator" model is the 2.5" barrel version of the Astra. Longer barrel versions were simply called Astra 44 or whatever caliber they represented.

The Astra was inspired by the Smith & Wesson Model 29 N-frame revolver and the Jovino Effector. Due to the short barrel, this pistol has a fairly heavy recoil and a huge muzzle flash. It was manufactured in Spain and imported into the United States by Interarms under catalog number 55000. It was sold through distributor Lew Horton in the 1980s.
