Australian Women in Music Awards
Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMA) was established by industry veteran Vicki Gordon and been held annually since 2018. AWMA recognizes the value and extensive contributions of women across all areas of the Australian music industry and includes a 2 day program of forums, discussion and networking. Diversity and inclusion of First Nations women is a focus of the awards. Helen Reddy was the inaugural inductee into the AWMA Honour Roll. [1]
In 2018, Kate Ceberano, Emily Wurramara, Katie Noonan, Adalita, and Do Re Mi performed. Award winners included Amy Shark, Jen Cloher, and Ngaiire.[1] Patricia Amphlett, Renée Geyer, and Margret RoadKnight received Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Three new categories were added in 2019.[2] Winners in 2019 included classical pianist Caroline Almonte, Alice Skye, Tashi Hall, Christine Anu & Mojo Juju with Joy McKean receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. [3][4] The Awards were held at the Brisbane Powerhouse.[5] Judith Durham was inducted into the AWMA Honor Roll.
