Location

The headquarters and main branch of the bank are located on the 2nd Floor at the Exponential Tower, in the central business district of Gaborone, Botswana's capital city.[3] The geographical coordinates of the bank's headquarters are 24°39'07.5"S, 25°54'10.0"E (Latitude:-24.652083; Longitude:25.902778).[4]

History

The company was registered in Botswana as a limited liability company, on 27 January 2006. On 29 July 2013, State Bank of India (Botswana) Limited, was granted a banking licence by the Bank of Botswana.[5] It opened its first branch in Gaborone, on 26 November 2013. The name of the Bank was changed from State Bank of India Botswana Limited to Bank SBI Botswana Limited on 30 June 2015.[6]

Ownership

Bank SBI Botswana Limited is a 100 percent subsidiary of State Bank of India, a Mumbai, India-based financial services conglomerate, ose total assets exceed US$590 billion and whose shares are traded on the stock exchanges in Mumbai, Bombay and London.[7]

Governance

The bank is governed by a six-person board of directors. Subbaramaiah Ramesh Rajap, an Indian national, serves as the chairman of the board. Pramod Pal, also from India, is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank.[8]
