Barry Chang

Barry Chang is an American politician who served as the mayor of Cupertino, California.[1]

Personal life

Chang was born in Taiwan in 1952. As of 2014, Chang and his family have been living in Cupertino for 30 years.[2]

Chang is married to Sue Chang and he has two daughters and one son. His older daughter, Aileen, works as an optometrist in Kauai. His younger daughter, Alice, is practicing law in Silicon Valley. His son, Howard, is working for a high-tech company.[3]

Political career

Early political career

Chang ran and was elected for a seat in the Cupertino School Board in 1995 and was reelected in 2003. He has also served four years on the Cupertino Public Safety Commission.[4]

Cupertino City Council

In 2009, Chang was elected to the Cupertino City Council. In 2014, Chang was re-elected to Cupertino City Council with the position of Mayor. On Dec 1, 2015, Chang was unanimously selected by his city council to become the mayor of Cupertino, California. He served as the mayor of Cupertino, California in 2016. His term ended in 2018.
