Blab Television

Blab Television is a broadcast station located on Cox Cable channel 6 in Pensacola, Florida, USA and MediaCom channel 38 in Santa Rosa county. From 1984 to 2016, it was locally owned by Fred Vigodsky, a businessman from Gulf Breeze; he also served as the president. Programming consists of local Information Programs, both 30 and 60 minute format, both live in the studio and taped, local high school and college sports and entertainment programming. A live stream of the station's broadcast is also available on the web at Blabtv.com along with numerous Video On Demand programs. One of the station's hallmarks is that it delivers over 40 hours of live programming a week. The station is located downtown on Palafox Place in Pensacola, across the street from the Pensacola Saenger Theater.[1]

Though Blab audiences aren't usually measured in traditional rating surveys, in 1986 the Nielsen Corporation did include BLAB in an incidental survey. Neilsen finding showed the viewership of the two-year-old station was higher than every other pensacola channel. except the three major network affiliates. At the time, Blab attracted more viewers than CNN, WGN, and WTBS combined.

Joe Scarborough used Blab TV in his 1994 campaign to run for Florida's 1st congressional district and became the first Republican to represent this district since its formation in 1900, and the first freshman Republican to represent the Florida Panhandle since 1879.

On June 1, 2016, Vigodsky closed the sale of Blab Television to an equal partnership made up of Delta Health Group CFO and Treasurer John Tolan and broadcasting veterans Doug Bunze and Eric Ober for an undisclosed sum.[2] Bunze serves as the general manager and CEO.[3]
