Professional career

Figueroa turned professional in 2015 and compiled a record of 18-0 before facing and defeating Yonfrez Parejo to win the WBA interim super bantamweight title in April 2019,[1] and was promoted to WBA (Regular) champion later the same year.[2]

In his first title defense, Figueroa faced veteran Javier Nicolas Chacon. Figuera completely overmatched Chacon, who did not stand a chance at any point in the fight. In the fourth round, Figueroa finally dropped him, which was enough for the Argentinian who spit out his mouthpiece and gave up.[3]

His second title defense came against Julio Ceja. Ceja came four-and-a-half pounds overweight on fight night. Figueroa fought in his usual aggressive style, which brought him some success, but also paved the way for Ceja to do some damage on him. Despite receiving some punishment, Figueroa did enough to keep his title via a split-decision draw. Both fighters won on one of the judges' scorecard, while the third had it a draw.[4]

Figueroa defended his title for the third time in a row, beating Damien Vazquez via TKO in the tenth round. The fight started off more evenly, but the later rounds were much in favor of the champion. A right-left hook combination to the body in the tenth round sent Vazquez to the floor, prompting the referee to end the fight and award Figueroa the victory.[5]
