Personal life
Born in 1987 or 1988[1] as the son of Elaine Lee, Brennan Lee Mulligan was introduced to Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) by his mother at age nine,[2] first gamemastering at age ten. By 2020, he was an alumnus of SUNY Ulster (having majored in philosophy/humanities)[1] and lived in Los Angeles.[3]
Career
Writing
For many years in his teens, Mulligan was a lead story writer for the live action role-playing summer camp, The Wayfinder Experience.[1] He later co-created the webcomic Strong Female Protagonist.[2]
Performing
In his twenties, he performed and taught[1] comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB).[4] It was working at the UCB that led Mulligan to working at CollegeHumor[1] (premiering on December 14, 2017 with Who's the Real Cop?).[5] Since 2018,[6] Mulligan has been an executive producer, writer, and gamemaster for Dimension 20 on the streaming platform Dropout (which also hosts his video podcast, The Adventuring Academy).[2] In his capacity as a professional D&D gamemaster, he has been cited by Bleeding Cool,[7] Comic Book Resources,[3] Wired,[8] and Wizards of the Coast's own D&D podcast—Dragon Talk.[1]
Awards
He has received an "Excellence in Performance Award" from the New York International Fringe Festival,[9] and won a 2019 Webby Award in the "Comedy: Shortform" category for his CollegeHumor skit, Tide CEO: You Gotta Stop Eating Tide Pods.[10]
