Brian Rose (baseball)

Brian Leonard Rose (born February 13, 1976) is a Portuguese-American former Major League Baseball player.

Rose was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1994 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox. In the process he turned down several scholarship offers, including a baseball scholarship to the University of Michigan. He made his debut on July 25, 1997, and pitched his final game on May 30, 2001. Brian also spent time in the Tampa Bay Rays, Colorado Rockies, New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, and Kansas City Royals organizations.

Rose had a distinguished minor league career, winning the International League pitcher of the year award in 1997.

Brian played his high school baseball at Dartmouth High School (Massachusetts), and was named the Gatorade Massachusetts Player of the Year in his senior year. To date, his uniform number 19 is one of just three to be retired by Dartmouth High School and his jersey now hangs in the Carlin Lynch Memorial Gymnasium.

Rose volunteers with the Thomas Chew Boys and Girls Club of Fall River, Massachusetts, and helps out at their Camp Welch facility in Assonet, Massachusetts. He also runs his own baseball camp during the summer months.

Brian is currently employed by the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III, where he leads Community Affairs endeavors. He also serves as the pitching coach - and is a marquee attraction for - the New Bedford Bay Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. At the high school level, Rose coaches the Bishop Stang High School Varsity Baseball team, serves as the assistant coach (responsible for running the offense) of the Dartmouth High School Boys Varsity Ice Hockey team (running the offense), and is the head coach of the Dartmouth High School Boys Junior Varsity Ice Hockey team.
