History
burnthe8track was formed in 2001 by the Kun and Olsand brothers. In 2003, Ethan Osland was replaced on bass by Mike Goreski. That year the band performed at Winnipeg's Grand Beach Music Fest. Their debut album, The Ocean, was released in 2004 through Century Media/Abacus/Alveran.[2][3] Some of the earlier tracks were re-released in 2005 on an EP, Division, through the Coretex label.[4][5]
In support of these recordings, burnthe8track toured and performed extensively during the next two years, including participation in the Van Warp Tour and opening slots for several more established bands.[6] In 2006 Goreski left the band, and Ethan Osland returned to take up the bass position.
The band then signed with Curve Music and Universal, and in late 2007 released another album, Fear of Falling Skies.[6] In support of their recordings, in 2008 the band toured and performed in Europe with Terror, Strung Out, Death Before Dishonor,[7] and The Misfits.[8] They have also performed with Ignite,[9] Death By Stereo, and Bad Religion.
burnthe8track has toured in over 30 countries, and has been featured on Definitely Not the Opera on CBC Radio, in a story about their quest to get their music video "Buried Beneath Us" shot and played on MuchMusic. Several of their songs were featured in ESPN NHL 2K5.
The band has also released three videos which have aired on MTV2, MTV Europe, VIVA, and Much Music.
