Plot

Sahadevan is the son of a police constable Moolankuzhiyil Prabhakaran who works in the dog squad and Arjun is a trained police dog with a unique ability to nab culprits and decipher a crime scene. Sahadevan has only one ambition - to join the police department for which he clears his exams and waits for the physical test. But his rival- his own brother-in-law Pitambaran who is disliked by his family.

Meanwhile, Baba, a terrorist in prison plans to murder the CM, Ravi Menon with the help of police commissioner, Gowri Shankar. This is because Ravi Menon was the man behind Baba's imprisonment. However Sahadevan foils the plan as his dog Arjun sacrifices himself while retrieving a time bomb from the hospital where the minister was undergoing treatment. The blame is put on Sahadevan by Shankar but he is saved by the Deputy Inspector General of Police who is his father's friend.

Shankar, along with Pitambaran intentionally makes sure Sahadevan fails his physical test because he foiled the bomb plan in the hospital. When he finds out who the crooks are he tries to find a way to foil it by starting over as a private detective via his uncle Karamchand alias Karunan Chanthakkavala. Sahadevan becomes a private detective and calls himself CID Moosa, a short form of Moolamkuzhiyil Sahadevan. He has a funky car that can do tricks to assist him in evading his enemies. During all of this he falls in love with a girl named Meena. After numerous attempts, he makes her reciprocate.

Meanwhile, he manages to intercept the first terrorists who had planned to place the bomb in the hospital. Shankar, in anger destroys Moosa's office saying it does not have a license. When Moosa goes to Ravi for filing a complaint, Ravi's car explodes (as Baba's henchman had planted a bomb in it) and Moosa heroically saves him. Moosa is applauded for the same. He later accidentally kills the second terrorist member and gets a 5 lakh reward announced by the Government. Meena then tells Moosa that these terrorists were tenants in her house and had filed a complaint with Shankar, not realising that she would be arrested as she reaches her flat.

Shankar tries to molest Meena but Moosa intervenes and fights with him to save her. Later Shankar forces Ravi to issue a warrant against Moosa which he reluctantly accepts. On the way home, Ravi sees Baba on the road after he is released from prison. Moosa meets Ravi to prove his innocence and then, Ravi tells him about Baba's enmity with him. Suddenly Baba appears and shoots him in his arm. Moosa takes Ravi to safety in his car and uses the different tricks and devices in his car to evade the police who were following him. He is then intercepted by Shankar and Baba but shoots both of them using his wits and a little help from Arjun, his dog. Ravi is saved again and Moosa gets sent to Scotland to solve bigger cases.
