History

Origins

Callidus Software Inc. was incorporated in Delaware on September 6, 1996[5] by founders Andrew Swett and Scott Kitayama as a company specializing in providing Enterprise Incentive Management (EIM) application systems. Initial funding came from Onset Ventures. The first hire was former Chief Architect Greg Holmberg, followed by former President and CEO Reed D. Taussig.

In November 2003, the company went public on the Nasdaq National Market under the stock symbol CALD, raising US$70 million.[6]

After acquiring Litmos in June 2011,[7] Callidus Cloud adopted the name Litmos. After being acquired by SAP in 2019, the product's name changed again to SAP Litmos.[8]

Financials

CallidusCloud (formerly Callidus Software) is ~$200m of revenue with ~$200m of cash. It grows at around 30%.

In 2014, total revenue was $136.6 million, an increase of $24.3 million, or 22%, from 2013. In 2015, total revenue increased 27% to $173.1 million. During 2015, the company added 900 customers to take the total number of companies using one or more of its software products to 4,600. They now report more than 5000.

Acquisition by SAP

On January 30, 2018, it was announced SAP (company) acquired CallidusCloud for $2.4 billion.[25]

Products and Services

CallidusCloud provides Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for marketing and sales effectiveness. Their suite of solutions includes applications to identify the right leads, ensure proper territory and quota distribution, enable sales forces, automate quote and proposal generation, and streamline sales compensation. Additionally, they offer applications for customer experience monitoring, sales gamification, and learning management including content authoring.

Partnerships

CallidusCloud Global Alliance Partners providing integrated solution that complement Calliduscloud products; System Integrators Partners providing user companies with a wide range of selections to support different sales methodologies and drive revenue;[26] Technology Partners provide functionality that complements CallidusCloud product capabilities. These partner companies include Adobe, Accenture, Canidium LLC, Deloitte, Lanshore LLC, NetSuite, OpenSymmetry, Oracle, Salesforce.com, and SAP.
