Campo de Rugby Las Terrazas

Campo de Rugby Las Terrazas is a Spanish rugby union stadium in Alcobendas (Madrid). It is located between la Moraleja and Arroyo de la Vega, behind the Diversia shopping centre, a few metres away from Anabel Segura Civic Centre. The local team, Alcobendas Rugby, playing in División de Honor uses it as its home stadium,[1] as well as the defunct club Moraleja Alcobendas Rugby Unión club did. In 2009, during the only Liga Superibérica season, it was one of the home grounds of the Madrid-based franchise Gatos de Madrid.[2]

Facilities

The facilities consists of a rugby field with natural grass, main stand with roofing on one of the sides, changing rooms for the home and away teams and referees as well and two small sports material storages. Also, during matchday, the club's bar is open, which also is tasked to prepare the popular after-match parties.[3]

Recently it has been speculated the possibility about the demolition of the facilities to build an underground parking lot that would decongest the zone, which lack s sufficient parking zones. However, this plan seems to be momentarily rejected by the Alcobendas city hall.

Renovations

In 2018[4][5] the stadium had several important renovations with the installation of artificial grass,[6] (which noticeably increased the width and length of the playing field to adapt it to the official international measurements[7]), as well the construction of a new perimeter zone, new seats and new floodlight towers.[8]
