Canadian Officers' Training Corps

The Canadian Officers' Training Corps (COTC) 1912 - c. 1968, was Canada's first officer training program fashioned after the equivalent program in the United Kingdom.[1]

In World War Two the Canadian Army was able to produce high quality officers [2] due to the high standards of the COTC.

  • Carleton College COTC (1949 - 1968) (renamed Carleton University COTC in 1957)
  • Loyola College COTC (1919 - 1968)
  • McGill University COTC (1912 - 1968), the first COTC established in Canada, and which formed the 148th Battalion, CEF and the 7th Canadian (McGill) Siege Battery of the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery during the First World War.

  • Ontario Veterinary College COTC

  • University of British Columbia COTC
  • University of Manitoba COTC (1914 - 1966)

Notable members
  • Harry Crerar (1888 – 1965), General of the Canadian Army and field commander in World War II
  • W. G. Hardy (1895 – 1979), Professor, author, president of the International Ice Hockey Federation[3]
