Plot

A young little Gingerbread boy named Jib, is about to make his way to the Sweet Celebration, a giant annual festival where all of Candy Land's areas bring what they offer, and bring his mother and family's famous gingerbread icing to it to be part of it. As he makes his way, he becomes distracted and eventually meets Mr. Mint. The dimwitted owner of the Peppermint Forest property, and a dinosaur named Jolly who lives in the Gumdrop area. They both become distracted by the many things around them despite Jib wanting really hard to get to back on track to the Sweet Celebration.

Meanwhile a young princess named Princess Lolly, is now the one to take over the King's place in the Sweet celebration, and she is given the task to use her Lollipop-shaped scepter in it in order to open up a new section in Candy Land. But as Princess Lolly is not sure on whether not she wants to be responsible, she consults with her sister, Queen Frostine, who suggests that she needs to learn to mature up and be responsible to take over her father's place. But then suddenly, Lolly looses her scepter when Lord Licorice's bites steal it. The King also becomes concerned as well on whether he can count on her, and vice versa for the latter.

With all of this happening, a ruthless man named Lord Licorice plans to take over Candy Land and turn it into a dull, grey, and Licorice-themed wasteland using his brewing abilities, and his minions, the Licorice Bites, who help him in his evil plan. He frequently appears throughout the journey, and tries to sabotage Jib and Mr. Mint's plans along with his bites as they all escape with the help of Jib's gingerbread icing, which he slowly but surely looses in each and every encounter.

Eventually Jib and Mr. Mint meet Princess Lolly, and Grandma Nut, who helps them throughout their journey. After they trap Lord Licorice and his bites in the Peanut Butter, in Grandma Nut's house, they all head off to the Castle for the celebration with time running very low, and they get stuck in the Chocolate Swamp when Mr. Mint suggests they go through it to get to The Castle. They then meet Gloppy, a giant monster in the Chocolate Swamp who just wants a hug, which Jib does, and they befriend him before they leave to The Castle at last.

Once they all arrive, Lord Licorice attempts to sabotage the celebration and hold everyone captive, only for the whole gang to help stop him, and he gets defeated eventually when handed over to Gloppy who returns to help. Then the Celebration begins, but when it is Jib's turn to put his gift into the Sweet Circle, it vanished due to him using it throughout his adventure with his friends. Jib then breaks down apologizing for wasting his gift on top of his spot in the circle crying. But then as soon as he does, the Sweet Circle activates and everyone then learns that they don't need to have their gift per se to activate the Sweet Circle, and everyone then follows Jib, and then Lolly puts her scepter into the middle, and it levitates as the new section of Candy Land opens magically. Then everyone has fun as Lord Licorice looks on in defeat. Then Jib says goodbye to all his friends and he goes back home after they all have fun.
