Chad Perkins

Chad Perkins is a radio host and local politician from Bowling Green, Missouri, now a Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives, elected in November of 2020 to a two-year term. He represents the 40th District (parts of Pike, Ralls, Monroe, and Lincoln Counties in northeastern Missouri.

Background

Perkins was born June 22, 1978, in Hannibal, Missouri. He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1997, attended John Wood Community College from 1997-1999 and the University of Missouri from 2000-2001. Perkins has worked as an on-air radio host at KJFM Radio since 2001, is a deputy sheriff for the Pike County Sheriff's Department, and is a former mayor of Bowling Green.

Election

Perkins won the Republican primary election in August of 2020 to replace fellow Republican incumbent Jim Hansen, who could not seek reelection due to term limits.

There was no Democrat running for the 40th District, making the Republican nomination tantamount to election in this heavily-Republican region. Perkins received 50.68% of the votes (3,847), to Ron Staggs 20.6% (1,570), Heather Dodd 19.5% (1,487); Thomas Schultz 5.2% (398), and Woodrow Polston, with 292 votes (3.8%).[1]
