Chandrapida (Karkota dynasty)
Chandrapida alias Vajraditya I, was the 3rd king of the Karkota dynasty, located in the present-day Indian state of Kashmir. He was a famous king known for his wise, just, courageous nature, with a simple disposition.[1]

Reign
According to Kalhana's Rajatarangini, Chandrapida ruled from 684 CE-643 CE, for 8 years and 8 months.[2] His reign was peaceful, as he was a just and benevolent king, who cared for his subjects.[1][3] Some scholars say that he sent an embassy to the Tang capital Chang'an in 720 CE. However, other scholars identify this with Tarapida, Chandrapida's successor.[4]
Personal life
He was the eldest son of king Durlabhaka (alias Pratapaditya II) and succeeded him onto the throne. he had two younger brothers, Tarapida and Lalitaditya, who succeeded him onto throne.[5]
