Chase Stokes

James Alexander Chase Stokes (born September 16, 1992) is an American actor. He is best known for his starring role as John Booker Routledge, or John B., on the Netflix teen drama series Outer Banks.[1][2]

Early life

Stokes was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, but later moved to Orlando, Florida as a teenager where he attended Timber Creek High School. Growing up, he played ice hockey.[3] He received his MBA from the University of Central Florida in 2015.[4]

Career

Stokes had small roles at the beginning of his acting career, including Stranger Things, Daytime Divas, and Tell Me Your Secrets.[5] He auditioned for Outer Banks in 2019, and originally turned down the offer, but changed his mind after reading through the script further.[6] He also originally auditioned for the role of Topper before reading for John B.[7] The first season was released on April 15, 2020, to positive reviews, and a second season was confirmed in July.[8] That same month, it was announced that he would be playing TJ in One Of Us Is Lying.[9] In September 2020, Stokes and Madelyn Cline starred in the music video for Kygo and Donna Summer's single "Hot Stuff”.

Personal life

Stokes is currently in a relationship with his Outer Banks co-star Madelyn Cline, which he made public via an Instagram[10] post uploaded on June 14, 2020.[11]

Stokes enjoys surfing, boating, and paddleboarding.[12] He also writes poetry and plays the guitar.[13]
