Chestnut-headed chachalaca
The chestnut-headed chachalaca (Ortalis ruficeps) is a small bird found only in the northern part of South America. It grows to about 38 cm (15 inches) in length and weighs 380 to 620 g (13 to 22 oz).[1] This bird lives mostly in trees. It is a member of the family Cracidae, and is endemic to north central Brazil.

It was formerly considered a subspecies of the little chachalaca.[2][3] Some taxonomic authorities still consider it conspecific, including the American Ornithological Society, though a proposal is pending there.[4]
