At the start of the 2007–08 season, Chantôme was featured in the first team in Paris Saint-Germain’s first two months to the season.[10] However, he ended up not playing for the club after being dropped from the first team squad.[11] It wasn’t until on 1 December 2007 when Chantôme returned to the first team, coming on as a 78th minute substitute, in a 1–0 loss against SM Caen.[12] During the same month, he spoke out his development in the first team for Paris Saint-Germain.[13] Following his return, Chantôme soon regained his first team place, playing in different midfield positions.[14] In the January transfer window, he was linked a move away from the club, as French clubs tried to sign him on loan but ended up staying at the club.[15] Amid to the transfer speculation, Chantôme scored his first ever goal for Paris Saint-Germain, in a 3–0 win against SAS Épinal in the first round of the Coupe de France.[16] He then started in the Coupe de la Ligue Final against RC Lens, playing 64 minutes before being substituted, in a 2–1 win, earning Chantôme’s first trophy in his professional career.[17] He then assisted three times in the last four remaining matches of the 2007–08 season.[18] However, Chantôme started in the Coupe de France Final against Lyon, playing 83 minutes before being substituted, in a 1–0 loss.[19] Despite being sidelined on three occasions later in the 2007–08 season, he made thirty–six appearances and scoring once in all competitions.[20]
Ahead of the 2008–09 season, Premier League side Arsenal were reported to be interested in securing the youngster's services.[21] It was announced on 10 August 2008 that Chantôme signed a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain, keeping him until 2011.[22] However, he found himself facing a new competitions from new signing, Claude Makélélé, resulting in him finding his playing time from the substitute bench.[23] This led Manager Paul Le Guen about Chantôme’s situation, saying: "Clément is one of the players who can really contribute to the team. He showed it especially in the second half of last season. Without Makelele, without Sakho, without Giuly at his best and without Chantôme, given our squad, that's a lot."[24] But he faced the sideline along the way, due to competitions and his own injury concern.[25] At one point, Chantôme was expected to be loaned out to get first team football, but he ended up staying at the club.[26] It wasn’t until on 23 October 2008 when Chantôme scored his first goal of the season, in a 3–1 loss against Schalke 04 in the UEFA Cup match.[27] He then contributed two assists in both legs, winning 5–1 win against Wolfsburg.[28] At the end of the 2008–09 season, Chantôme made thirty–six appearances and scoring once in all competitions.
Ahead of the 2009–10 season, it was expected that Chantôme could leave Paris Saint-Germain to get first team football, but he ended up staying at the club.[29] However, Chantôme continued to have his playing time from the substitute bench, due to strong competitions in the midfield position.[30] He also faced his own injury concern that saw him sidelined on three occasions throughout the 2009–10 season.[31] It wasn’t until on 1 November 2009 when Chantôme scored his first goal of the season, in a 4–1 win against Sochaux.[32] He later scored two more goals in the next two months against Boulogne and FCM Aubervilliers.[33] Chantôme later said in an interview in April that he was frustrated of getting first team football at Paris Saint-Germain.[34] Chantôme appeared as an unused substitute bench, as the club won the Coupe de France Final after beating AS Monaco 1–0.[35] At the end of the 2009–10 season, he made thirty appearances and scoring three times in all competitions.
Ahead of the 2010–11 season, Chantôme continued to be linked a move away from Paris Saint-Germain as a result of not getting first team football, but he ended staying at the club.[36] Chantôme played in both legs of the UEFA Europa League Play–Off Round against Maccabi Tel Aviv, as Paris Saint-Germain won 5–4 on aggregate.[37] Having started out on the substitute bench, he soon regained his first team place, playing in the defensive midfield position.[38] It wasn’t until on 21 October 2010 when Chantôme scored an equalising goal in the 87th minutes, having come on as a substitute bench five minutes ago, in a 1–1 draw against Borussia Dortmund.[39] This was followed up by setting up a goal for Nenê, who scored twice, in a 3–2 loss against Auxerre.[40] His performance later earned him the Player of the Month for November and Team of the Year in the first half of the season by Le Figaro.[41] In the semi–finals of the Coupe de la Ligue against Montpellier, he was sent–off for a second bookable offence, as the club lost 1–0 and served a two match suspension as a result.[42] It wasn’t until on 5 February 2011 when Chantôme returned to the starting line–up against Rennes, as Paris Saint-Germain lost 1–0.[43] A month later on 20 March 2011, he scored his second goal of the season, in a 2–1 loss against Marseille.[44] Three weeks later on 9 April 2011, Chantôme scored his third goal of the season, in a 2–1 win against SM Caen.[45] On 21 April 2011, he signed a contract extension with the club, keeping him until 2015.[46] Chantôme then started in the Coupe de France Final against Lille, as Paris Saint-Germain lost 1–0.[47] Despite being sidelined on five occasions later in the 2010–11 season, he went on to make forty–three appearances and scoring three times in all competitions.[48]
At the start of the 2011–12 season, Chantôme became a first team regular for Paris Saint-Germain, playing in the defensive midfield position despite the club going under a new ownership.[49] However, he was sent–off for a second bookable offence, in a 0–0 draw against Slovan Bratislava on 20 October 2011.[50]Despite this, Chantôme was able to set up two goals in two matches between 16 October 2011 and 23 October 2011 against Ajaccio and Dijon.[51] However, he suffered a muscular problems that kept him out for the rest of the year, as well as, suspension.[52] It wasn’t until on 14 January 2012 when Chantôme returned to the first team, coming on as a 85th minute substitute, in a 3–1 win against Toulouse.[53] Following his return, his first team appearances was restricted, due to injuries and competitions.[54] As a result, he only made three starts for Paris Saint-Germain.[55] At the end of the 2011–12 season, Chantôme made twenty–one appearances in all competitions.
Ahead of the 2012–13 season, Chantôme, once again, was linked a move away from the club, as Lille and Lyon wanted to sign him.[56] With Lille weren’t interested in signing him, he ended up staying at Paris Saint-Germain after Manager Carlo Ancelotti wanted him to stay at the club.[57] Chantôme started in the first two matches of the season before suffering a hip injury that saw him sidelined throughout August.[58] It wasn’t until on 14 September 2012 when he returned to the first team, coming on as a 70th minute substitute, in a 2–0 win against Toulouse.[59] This was followed up by making his UEFA Champions League against Dynamo Kyiv and set up Paris Saint-Germain’s third goal of the game, in a 4–1 win.[60] Despite his involvement in the first team, Chantôme found himself in the sidelined on three occasions throughout the first half of the 2012–13 season.[61] By December, he found his playing time, mostly from the substitute bench, due to new competitions.[62] Chantôme then set up Paris Saint-Germain’s first goal of the game, in a 2–0 win against Rennes on 6 April 2013.[63] After suffering a muscle injury that saw him missed one match, he scored on his return from injury, in a 3–0 win against Nice on 21 April 2013.[64] Chantôme came on a late substitute against Lyon on 12 May 2013, winning 1–0, as the club won the league at home, marking the club's third ever national championship.[65] At the end of the 2012–13 season, he made thirty–eight appearances and scoring once in all competitions, as well as, making just 20 starts at Paris Saint-Germain.
Following his loan spell at Toulouse came to an end, Chantôme made his first appearance of the 2014–15 season for Paris Saint-Germain, coming on as a 71st minute substitute, in a 2–0 win against Guingamp in the Trophée des Champions.[66] Throughout August, his future became uncertain, as many clubs, including Toulouse were interesting signing him but ended up staying at the club.[67] However, his first team opportunities became limited once again at Paris Saint-Germain, which saw him placed on the substitute bench.[68] As a result, he was restricted to twelve appearances for the club this season.[69] This led to further speculation over his future at Paris Saint-Germain when the transfer window opens in January.[70] Amid to the transfer speculation, he made his last appearance for the club on 5 January 2015, in a 3–0 win against Montpellier in the first round of the Coupe de France.[71]
