Classé

Classé is a Canadian audio brand known for high-performance music and theater components, such as amplifiers, pre-amplifiers and processors. The company was founded in 1980 solely by David Reich. Classé produced its first power amplifier that same year, the DR-2. Reich left in 1991,11 years after finding the company. His silent partner of 5 years, Mike Viglas, ousted him. Prior to investing in Classé in 1985 Viglas sold Ford trucks;18 wheelers. He had his own dealership for many years in Canada.Prior to Classe he knew nothing about audio, but he knew opportunity. After acquiring Classé, Viglas would go on to be the sole owner, buying out the last 2 investors. He eventually sold the company making millions. Classé became part of the Bowers & Wilkins Group in 2001, and in 2018 it was acquired by Sound United, parent company of Denon, Marantz, Polk, Definitive Technology, HEOS, and Boston Acoustics.

Classé amplifiers are used in both homes and professional recording studios like London's Abbey Road, and mastering facilities like Sterling Sound in New York City.
