Colombo South International College

Colombo South International College (commonly known as CSI College) is a private international school located in Kalubowila, Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is one of the best international schools in Sri Lanka.

Curriculum

The medium of instruction is English with students ranging from nursery to high school. In the senior school, the classes prepare students for the Local Ordinary (O) Level and Edexcel IGCSE, Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced (A2) Level examinations.[1]

The school has produced some of the highest A grade rates in the country for both Local Ordinary level and Edexcel Advance Level examinations in recent years.[2] One of the former student Thilina Silva created history when she became the first female to participate in a major tournament in the history of cue sports in Sri Lanka by participating in the sixth 8-Ball Pool nationals conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka [3] The college has produced many doctors, engineers, accountants, lawyers during the past years. The school has also be highly recognized for Excellent Public examination results and achieving many awards in Inter-School competitions. Colombo South International College had been nominated for the Best Private school in 2004.

Admission

1.1 Students will be admitted to the College on their application for Admission being approved by the Board of Directors and the prescribed fees paid at the College Office

1.2 The Board of Directors may accept or reject an application without giving any reason.

Punctuality and attendance

2.1 Students should attend school regularly on all school days.

2.2 Students are expected to be present in their classes at least 10 minutes before the college begins.

2.3 Parents are advised to inform the school of the absence of their children from school.

2.4 A note from the parent explaining the absence of the students should be submitted to the class teacher when a student returns to school after being absent from school.

2.5 The school will not be responsible for the lessons 'lost' by the students due to absence.

2.6 During school hours students should move into their specified classes without delay.

2.7 Students should not remain in school after school hours without due permission.

2.8 No deduction of the college fee will be allowed for reasons of long absence from school.

2.9 Absence during the time of test or examination could affect the promotion of the child unless satisfactory explanation is submitted.

2.10 Promotions will not be automatic they have to reach the specified.

College Uniform

3.1 All students attending school or extra classes should participate in the functions and tours organized by the school, in the uniform or costume prescribed by the college.

3.2 The college may approve a special sports wear for sports.

General Conduct in school


4.1 All students should have with them the prescribed textbooks, exercise books and the necessary stationery when they attend school.

4.2 All Students are expected to give full attention to what is being taught in the class without causing any disturbance to others.

4.3 It is the duty of the student to complete any assignment given by the teacher in the course of his her lesson.

4.4 No students should leave a class without the permission of the teacher without an Exit Card during school hours. 4.5 No Students should leave the school premises during school hours without the permission of the Supervisor, Vice Principal or Principal. 4.6 All Students are expected to treat with respect the Teachers, the Administrative Staff and the Student Leaders and follow their instructions. 4.7 Student should be punctual for test and examinations: Any time lost by the students by arriving late for examinations will not be made up by giving extra time for the test.

4.8 Student should not have in their possession any material unacceptable during the time of tests and examinations. 4.9 Students should not give or receive any assistance from others in answering their papers during the time of Tests or Examinations. 4.10 In case of illness or an accident this student must inform the Class Teacher or the Administrative Staff immediately.

4.11 The School must be informed of any infectious or contagious disease contacted by the students. 4.12 Students should not have in their possession or display any obscene material, diskettes, CD/DVD, cell phones, pen drives. 4.13 Any Communication or information addressed to the parent by the teacher or vise versa, must be duly delivered by the student.

4.14 Students under medication or subject to recurrent illness such as convulsions, must keep the school informed of the nature office illness.

4.15 Students should not bring to school any expensive objects such as ornaments or Electronic devices.

4.16 Students should not have with them or use "Tippex"

4.17 No Students should make any remark or involve him or herself in any action that will undermine the Religion Or Nationality of other students or staff.

4.18 Students should not indulge in any arguments on politics.

4.19 Students should not willfully cause any injury to any other student or members of the staff.

4.20 Students should not have in their possession any object or material that will cause injury to the other students or the staff:

4.21 The school authorities and the Teachers have the right to examine any material the students bring into the school.

4.22 The school authorities have the right to take into possession from the student any material that is subject to an inquiry and return them to the parents of the student or lawful owner when the inquiry is over. 4.23 Students should not use abusive language against other students or the members of the staff. 4.24 Students should not cause any willful damage to any school property which includes Library books, Teaching Aids, Laboratory Equipment, Sports or Musical Instruments, Electrical and Sanitary fittings, Furniture etc.. 4.25 Students are strictly prohibited from smoking using Alcoholic Beverages or Drugs.

4.26 Students are advised not to offer any gifts or presents to any member of the Staff.

4.27 Students should not gain access to any confidential documents of the school such as personal records of Students or Staff, or Examination Material. or Evaluation Records.

4.28 If Student was to damage or cause the loss of any object belonging to the school or any other student he/she may be asked to restore, replace or pay for the object concerned.

4.29 The school record book should always be brought to school.
