History
In 1968, Conway High School and Whittemore High School (the city's African-American high school) merged following desegregation. In the early years Conway High's colors were green and white, and many years later their colors changed to green, white and orange, while Whittemore's were purple and gold. The two schools elected to make the new colors of present-day Conway High School green white and gold, and also to keep the "Tiger" as the school's mascot (Whittemore's teams were known as the "Bulldogs"). The school has since had notable academic achievements such as the Palmetto Gold and Silver award. also the National Renaissance program was started at Conway in the early '80s. The school is also rated "Excellent" on the state report card.
Over the years the Conway High football team had major rivalries with Myrtle Beach High School (The Seahawks), Georgetown High School (The Bulldogs), Socastee High School (The Braves), Carolina Forest High School (The Panthers) and Marlboro County High School (The Bulldogs).
