Craig Thomas (screenwriter)

Craig David Thomas[1] is an American television writer and producer. He is best known as co-creator, writer, and executive producer of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother along with his writing partner Carter Bays, which has been nominated for seven primetime Emmy Awards, including Best Original Song for "Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit".[2]. In 2012 How I Met Your Mother won a People's Choice Awards.

Along with Carter Bays he is a member of The Solids, who perform the theme song to How I Met Your Mother, "Hey Beautiful".

Early life

Thomas graduated from Wesleyan University in 1997.[3] In the summer of 1996 Thomas and Bays were interns in the Development department of MTV.

Thomas became an intern at MTV in the Fall of 1996, which would later influence his writing.

Career

After graduating from Wesleyan in 1997, Bays and Carter Bays became writing partners, writing for the Late Show With David Letterman.

Thomas also wrote for American Dad!, Quintuplets and Oliver Beene.

In 2014 he shot a pilot for the show How I Met Your Dad with his partner Carter Bays, Emily Spivey and Greta Gerwig, but CBS asked them to do a second pilot, and they refused.

On April 15, 2019, Thomas joined a host of other writers in firing their agents as part of the WGA's stand against the ATA and the unfair practice of packaging.[4]
