Cuddles Marshall

Clarence Westly "Cuddles" Marshall (April 28, 1925 December 14, 2007) was an American professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a relief pitcher for the New York Yankees and St. Louis Browns between 1946 and 1950.

Marshall was born in Bellingham, Washington, and compiled a 7–7 record over four seasons; three with the Yankees, and a final campaign with the Browns. His career ERA was 5.98. Over his career, he walked 158 batters while striking out but 69.

Known as 'Clancy' in his later years, Marshall recalled that one of the batters he faced in his MLB debut was Ted Williams, who hit a ground ball into a double play. [1]

Marshall was the Yankees pitcher to start the first night game at Yankee Stadium on May 28, 1946.[2]

Marshall died in Valencia, California, at the age of 82, and was buried at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Simi Valley, California.
