Dónall Ó Héalai

Dónall Ó Héalai (Irish: [ˈd̪ˠoːnˠəl̪ˠ oː ˈheːlˠiː]; often spelled Ó Héalaí; born 1987) is an Irish actor and voice actor. He has been identified as a "Star of Tomorrow" by Screen International[2] and described as "one to watch in 2021" by The Irish Examiner.[3]

Background

Ó Héalaí grew up in Conamara, Galway and is based in the west of Ireland. He began acting at the age of 14 at a local youth club.[4][5]

He is a graduate of Maynooth University, where he was awarded the Dr. H.H Stewart Literary Prize during his studies.[6] And later graduated from the Bow Street Academy of screen acting in Dublin.[7]

A native speaker of Irish, In 2018 Ó Héalaí gave a TEDxBerkeley talk on the Irish Language and Beauty.[8]

Ó Héalai won Irish America's Rising Star award for his performance in Sínte[14] and the Aer Lingus Discovery Award at the 2020 DIFF.[15]
