Dangatar Ovezov
Dangatar Ovezov (Russian: Дангатар Овезов; January 1, 1911 – May 5, 1966) was a Turkmenistani composer. He studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. He composed numerous works, among them the opera Shahsenem and Gharib.[1] He received the title of People's Artist of the Turkmen SSR in 1961. He was awarded the TSSR State Prize in 1966. Dangatar Ovezov is considered the founder of the school of Turkmen composition.[2]
