Demokraatti

Demokraatti is a Finnish language newspaper and Social Democratic Party organ published daily in Helsinki, Finland.

History and profile

Demokraatti was established in 1895. Its name in the beginning was Työmies (The Labourer). The paper is headquartered in Helsinki[1] and is the organ of the Social Democratic Party.[2][3] The paper is published five times a week.[4]

In late 1997 another social democratic paper, Turun Päivälehti, merged with Demokraatti, and they began to publish the same material, although Turun Päivälehti preserved its name.[2]

The circulation of Demokraatti was 25,000 copies in 1997.[2]
