Deputy conservator of forests

A Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) (Hindi: उप वन संरक्षक) or, equivalently a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) (Hindi: वन मण्डल अधिकारी), is an officer belonging to the Indian Forest Service (IFS). The Deputy Conservator of Forests is responsible for managing the forests, environment and wildlife related issues of a Forest Division of a state or a union territory of India. He/She is assisted by the officers of the State Forest Service and other state forest and wildlife officials, and reports to the Conservator of Forests (CF) of the Forest Department.The post is first in hierarchy of INDIAN FOREST SERVICE which is an all India service. Several states of India also refer to DCF as DFO. The post of DCF can hold any office of equivalent grade in Functional or non Functional offices of the Forest department as posts in Forest corporation as Divisional Manger, or DCF Working plan, Wildlife warden in Wildlife sanctuaries or Deputy Director in a Training institute or AIGF in the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate change.This post has most direct involvement with the People in their day to day activity which on promotion goes on diminishing. DCF is an equivalent grade with SP and DC in a district being an All India Service, though the importance of this post as regard to public service is realized in places where the forest areas or forest land is huge. In areas which are far flung and which have tribal population dependent on forests.

Assistant Conservator Forest (ACF)

Assistant Conservator Forest (ACF) (Hindi: सहायक वन संरक्षक) Or equivalently a '' Sub Divisional Officer ' (Hindi: उप वन मंडलाधिकारी )

ACF is an important officer in the administration of forest divisions . ACF/SDO is a Gazetted Officer and He or She is equivalent to SDM in the administrator domain and DSP/ASP in police department. ACF is a forest officers who belong to the divisional forest forces, either direct entrants at that rank or promoted from Forest range officer grade first recruited by State Public Service Commissions or Union public service commission (UPSC) receive this rank directly and it responsible for ensuring the ecological stability of the country via thorough protection and participatory sustainable management of natural resources. It is also the feeder service for Indian Forest Service in the state

Salary = Assistant Conservator of Forest Salary As per the 6th CPC Report, the pre-revised pay scale for the post is 15,600 - 39,100 with Grade of 5,400. Now after 7th Pay commission, Assistant Conservator of Forest revised entry pay is 56,100

Facilities: An ACF is usually provided an official vehicle/ Bolero with a driver. For office work he has a clerk and a class four employee. He is provided official accommodation and one or two helpers.

Function = The ACF is basically a first line supervisor. The work of the Range Officer and the officials subordinate to him is to carry out the work. The ACF supervises the work. The DFO and higher officers are mainly concerned with decision making.

Technical Functions: An ACF has to supervise various works in the field such as marking of trees for felling, classification of logs to be sold by auction into various lots, examination of plantations, timber depots and nurseries. The assistant conservator makes sure that the plantation of trees and the process of taking care of them takes place properly. He is responsible for harvesting the forest and this requires a lot of hard work. ... The assistant conservator also recruits different people who can help him in the task of conserving the forest

Misc functions: An ACF has to conduct enquiries into various complaints.
