Domination is a play-by-mail game that was published by LAMA.
Publication history
Domination is a play-by-mail game.[1] It is a closed-end fantasy game.[2]
Gameplay
According to reviewer Kelly Golden, "Domination is a PBM game where feudal lords wage war for the control of an imaginary island continent." Players fight with armies and fleets with various types of forces. The island comprises 150 provinces, and each player starts with five each. Golden advised that winning requires destroying your opponents provinces or controlling 75 of them "while keeping everyone else below 50".[3]
In Domination, players act as "nobles clashing for control over a continent thrown into turmoil by the death of the emperor".[2] According to Jim Townsend, "economics ... is the most difficult part of the game".[2] Unit types are: foot troops, archers, cavalry, ships, and security.[2] Food and durables are the commodities that players can manipulate, with different uses related to units and provinces.[2]
According to Terry Piediscalzzi, "most Domination games last about 25 turns".[4]
Reception
Kelly Golden stated in White Wolf issue No. 18 that "the game is fast paced and action is always guaranteed". Golden found the game "enjoyable," with some drawbacks, summarizing that Domination is a game that he would "gladly play again".[3]
