Dunboyne A.F.C.
Dunboyne A.F.C. is situated on the Summerhill Road in Dunboyne, Co. Meath. The club won the F.A.I./Aviva Club of the Year 2009,and the UEFA Grassroots Bronze Medal Club of the Year 2010. The Club was officially opened by the legendary "Pelé" on 26 November 2009.[1]
Founded in 1970, a few hearty souls set about setting up a soccer team in Dunboyne, County Meath, Ireland. The Club has grown year on year to what it is today, a true community Club. Dunboyne A.F.C. is governed by The Executive Committee, which are elected annually at the Dunboyne A.F.C. Annual General Meeting. The Chairman of Dunboyne A.F.C. is currently Eugene Dowling, who was elected on 26 May 2010 at the A.G.M. The Club has elected a Vice Chairman Mr. Walter Moran, Honorary Secretary, and Treasurer . There exists a large Executive Committee, which covers everything from, Webmaster, Child Welfare, Grounds to Secretaries in each League. The Club plays Intermediate Senior Football in The Leinster Senior League, and also The Meath and District League. Schoolboy football is generally played in the Dublin and District Schoolboys League. They also have two Ladies teams, playing Senior and Under 16 football. During the season 1009 to 2010 the Club fielded 36 teams from Under 7 up to Ladies and Leinster Senior League Intermediate. Every Saturday morning from 10.00a.m. to 11.30a.m. the Nursery or Tots is a hive of activity for youngsters aged between 5 years and 7 years old. This is the foundations of the Club, and many of our Senior Players started out in the Tots.
