Dustin Tatro

Dustin Tatro is an American musician who is the stadium organist for Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers.

Tatro is also radio personality on KORQ, and formerly on KGNZ, as well as a church organist and an EMT.[1] He does his own syndicated radio show called The RockDown Show with Dustin Tatro, which counts down the top ten songs in Christian Rock.[2] He cites Pat St. John, Phlash Phelps, and Ron Sedaille as radio influences.[3]

Tatro began working for the Rangers in early 2020, right before COVID.[1] He was the first live organist the Rangers had used since Marcia Rogers retired in 2001 after playing since 1994.[1] He got the job when Chuck Morgan, executive vice president for ballpark entertainment, saw a video of Tatro playing the pipe organ in church and reached out over Facebook to discuss him becoming the organist for the Rangers.[1]

For the 2020 season, Tatro pre-recorded 750 pieces of organ music on a refurbished 1951 Hammond C2 organ that he acquired from the storage of a local Baptist church.[1] He also recorded some songs on a 2,800-pipe organ at St. Paul United Methodist Church where he has worked as the organist since 2006.[1] As of February 2020, he has not played live at Globe Life Field which didn't have an organ installed when Tatro was hired.[4][5] Like many other stadium organists, Tatro takes requests on social media.[6]

Personal life

Tatro is from Andrews and has lived in Abilene since 2009.[1] He has a BA in church music, with an organ emphasis, from Hardin-Simmons University in 2011 and received his master’s in 2013.[4] He is married to Staci Tatro.[4]
